The Allied Rifle Committee representing Australia, United Kingdom and Canada (The Commonwealth Nations) adopted the committee's improved version of the FN FAL rifle, designated the L1A1 rifle by Australia and Great Britain, and C1 by Canada. The Australian L1A1 is also known as the Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), and in full auto form, the Automatic Rifle (AR). The United Kingdom produced its own variant of the FN FAL incorporating the modifications developed by the Allied Rifle Committee, designating it the L1A1 Self Loading Rifle (SLR).
|British L1A1||Back to Top|
The British L1A1 was produced for the British military and had English Walnut Furniture. The Buttstock has a thinner "wrist" and an elegant curve to the dorsal ridge of the geometry. The grip is similar to the Australian Grip, and the foreguards were solid wood with metal brackets at the front. Our parts are the most accurate replications of these parts since the original productions.
|Aussie L1A1||Back to Top|
The Australian L1A1 was produced for the Australian military and origianlly had Coachwood Furniture. So many parts were produced of coachwood during the mid part of the 20th century that coachwood supplies were exhausted, and it is no longer available. The australians also used Beech to make wood furniture, and our Aussie parts are made of European Beech as well. The Buttstock has a "chunky wrist" and an hump curve at the front of the dorsal ridge of the stock. The grip is similar to the British Grip, and the early foreuards were the same as the solid wood British Foreguards, with metal brackets at the front. Later the Foreguard was revised to a laminated plywood system, which withstood more abuse. Our parts are the most accurate replications of these parts since the original productions.
